The Museum Today
Now a National Register-listed historic site, the Overfield Tavern Museum has been restored and reinterpreted to reflect life on the Ohio frontier prior to 1850.
Stepping inside the museum today, visitors are greeted by the lingering smell of woodsmoke in the air and are transported to the Ohio frontier. The museum includes a taproom, parlor, bedroom, and courtroom in the original tavern section, and a kitchen and bedroom in the ca. 1803 cabin. Each room offers a glimpse into the life and times of the Overfield family, containing a superb collection of early-19th-century furniture, household items, textiles, and decorative arts.
