The Overfield School

In 1960, Julia Hobart, wife of William H. Hobart, founded the Overfield Nursery School in a back room of what is today the Overfield Tavern Museum.

By 1988, 65 children attended the school, which was in desperate need of a larger facility. The Hobart Brothers Company offered the Edward and Martha Hobart House on Ridge Avenue as the school’s new home. The Overfield School continues to operate at that location to this day.

Today, the Overfield School operates in the former Edward and Martha Hobart House on Ridge Avenue.
